URBANDALE GIRLS BASKETBALL | SPRING & SUMMER CLUB BASKETBALL TRYOUTS:

• PHILOSPHY:

The Urbandale Girl's Club Basketball Program is open to girls going into grades 5th-8th (2024-25). Following the philosophy of the high school programs, Club Basketball focuses on individual basketball skill development and competitive play.

• PARTICIPATION & GAMEPLAY:

The purpose of the program is to provide Urbandale students the opportunity to play together in competitive leagues and tournaments.  Tournaments are selected by the coaches assigned to each team with assistance provided by Urbandale Girls Basketball staff and Urbandale Community Education office.

• TEAM FORMAT & ELIGIBILITY:

If numbers permit, a minimum of 1 team will be offered at each grade level (5th – 8th) for girls living in Urbandale or attending the Urbandale Community School District. Each roster will have 12 players. Teams will be formed based on tryout performance, however, when there are multiple teams for a grade, teams will be blended together for practice. We will not necessarily designate A/B/C teams, but work with the coaches to create teams based on multiple factors such as tryout performance, playing experience and specific requests to help with logistics.  The tryout evaluations will be used to establish the teams and measure each player as they progress through the program.

• PRACTICE & PLAYING TIME:

Teams will be provided 1-2 practices per week at one of the district’s gymnasiums after all school activities have concluded, typically between 6:15 PM – 9:30 PM. Urbandale Community Education Department will schedule teams of the same grade level and gender together. If their schedule allows, Urbandale High School coaches will try to attend and assist with practices. When possible, practices will be scheduled on a consistent basis through the community education office and coaches are expected to stick to the schedule provided to them. While equal playing time is not the objective, each player will have an opportunity to play in each game. Playing time will be at the coach’s discretion and is based on practice and game performance, attitude, game situation and skill. Questions regarding playing time should be directed to the coaches, not Urbandale Community Education.

• REGISTRATION:

Deadline to register for the Urbandale Girls Basketball - Spring & Summer Club Basketball Tryouts is SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2024 at 10:00 AM, and there is a Non-Refundable $25.00 Tryout Fee due by that date. Late registrations will be dealt with on a case by case basis. Registration is available online at www.UrbandaleCommunityEd.com. Tournaments and Leagues will be selected by team coaches and the cost will be shared by the team.
