This program is designed for the more serious-minded wrestler with more emphasis on competition and winning. Advanced techniques with more emphasis on live wrestling and match conditioning will be implemented. All 7th & 8th grade wrestlers are eligible to participate in Team J-Hawk practices once the Middle School Wrestling season is completed. All wrestlers are required to be registered in order to participate in the Team J-Hawk Wrestling Program.

Performance U will be a blending of philosophies and training modalities from both Speed U and Strength U classes. Classes will consist of two times per week, with an emphasis of linear and lateral speed, agility, change of direction, plyometrics, explosive power and overall strength. Classes will run roughly 45 minutes in length and will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Give the youngest athletes in your home an introduction to the sport of wrestling. J-Hawk Beginners class is designed to offer a fun and interactive glimpse at wrestling for?boys?and?girls. Athletes will learn a mix of tumbling, basic athletic skills, and foundational wrestling techniques. Our goal is to expose children and parents to the sport of wrestling, promote wrestling skills to benefit all sports, and teach kids how to grab a leg and do something cool to score points!

Join Leslie with Lotus Moon Ceramics for a creative, hands-on workshop where you’ll design and build your own tabletop game entirely out of clay. From classic favorites like Tic Tac Toe and Dominoes to fun solitaire boards and puzzle tiles, this class is all about play, creativity, and making something you can use for years to come. (Recommended for ages 16+. Ages 12+ may register if an adult also registers to accompany them).

Students learn how to practice safe habits, how to prevent unsafe situations, and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. Students are also introduced to the Safe Sitter First Aid Chart and learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses. This class is designed for students grades 4th-6th.

Students will learn key engineering and architectural concepts such as force, stress, tension, compression, and more by building famous bridges from across the world using K’NEX kits. At the end of the course, they will have a chance to put their new skills into action by using different crafting materials to create their own bridge! For students in 3rd-5th grade.

In this camp, a Sylvan certified teacher will guide students through the basic principles behind physical science and simple machines. They will learn to identify gears, wheels, axels, levers, and pulleys and what they do while in action in simple machines they build themselves using LEGO bricks. At the end of the program, they will even design their own machine using what they've learned! For students in 1st-5th grade.

Students learn how to prevent injuries and handle emergencies when home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. They are taught infant and child choking rescue. They also learn how a child's age affects the care they receive, how to prevent problem behavior, how to run their own babysitting business, and stay safe online. (This class is designed for students grades 6th-8th.)

Join us for a FREE Winter Kids Youth Soccer Clinic hosted by the Urbandale High School Boys Soccer Program! This clinic offers separate sessions for elementary and middle school players, providing a fun and engaging environment for children to improve their soccer skills. Led by UHS Boys Soccer coaches and players, participants will work on fundamental techniques like dribbling, passing, shooting, and teamwork through exciting drills and games.

Karen Acres Intersession: What will YOU be? A Career Quest Week! with Mrs. McMurry will take place March 9 - March 12, 2025.  Students will learn about a variety of careers. Students will be able to take a multiple intelligences quiz and a career quiz to help them come up with a list of careers they may be interested in having in the future! Intersession services are open to students in grades K - 5th for the 2025-26 school year.
