Karen Acres Intersession: SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST is the Week of Monday, April 29 - Friday, May 3, 2024. Students will learn about and explore different games and the features within them. They will then design games that incorporate different health benefits and movements. Intersession services are open to students in grades K - 5th for the 2023-24 school year.

J-Hawk Skills Basketball Clinics are a great way to introduce your young athletes to the sport of basketball. These sessions will foster the fundamentals of the game, physical fitness, gross motor skills, and the importance of team play. In this fun-filled, positive and encouraging environment the participants will work on individual skill development and compete within their age groups in various skill competitions (dribbling, passing, shooting, and defense).

The High School Summer 3v3 Basketball League gives players an opportunity to enjoy playing basketball in a fun and low-stress environment while still learning and developing their skills. Our league will allow players to get more work in during the Summer, and have the ball in their hands more often as they prepare for the school season. There are NO POSSESSIONS OFF!! We feel that 3 on 3 is the way players learn best because they need to be engaged on every possession on both sides of the ball.

The Youth Enrichment League Project Runway Sewing Camp follows four basic principles: Teach It!...Students are taught multiple hand and machine sewing techniques. Practice It!...Students practice those techniques on basic projects. Sew It!...Students increase their skill and sew more complicated projects. CALLING ALL SWIFTIES! THE ERAS TOUR CAMP offers hands-on experience in designing and building stage sets inspired by the music of Taylor Swift. Kids will learn the basics of set design, lighting, and sound engineering, as well as the importance of teamwork and collaboration in creating a successful performance. Using creativity and inspiration from famous women architects, campers will design and take home their own mini Eras Tour sets and of course, Friendship Bracelets!

This boys' soccer camp will be an opportunity for current and incoming high school players that will be going out for Urbandale Boys Soccer to train and play at a competitive level. The camp will consist of technical and possession drills with full sided games and competitions to end.

The middle school camp is designed to provide instruction on the J-Hawk way of executing basketball fundamentals in a positive environment. Players will be instructed on team and individual skills through drills and games. Players will receive one on one instruction along with teamwork ideas.

This boys' soccer camp will be an opportunity for middle school players to train and play at a competitive level. The camp will consist of technical and possession drills with some full sided games and competitions to end.

The youth camp will be instructional with each day serving as a theme. Day 1: First Touch and Technical Fundamentals. Day 2: Passing and Possession. Day 3: Finishing. Each day will end with small sided games.

Speed U will focus on functional movements on the field / track to improve speed and agility. Athletes will be coached up on proper running mechanics, both linear and lateral explosive plyometric movements, plus competitive and cross training drills to increase speed.

Competition camp is focused on game play. Players will be divided into teams that will compete against one another. Score will be kept and records for teams will be posted. This camp will help give players game experience.

In this Fourth of July themed camp, we will be having a blast with hands-on STEM activities, crafts and games! We will be exploring the different colors in fireworks, designing carnival rides and making flag inspired crafts! Please wear clothes appropriate for hand-on activities and outdoor games!

In RC Wars, teams of students will build their own Remote Control vehicles to race and battle against other teams. Students will need to design their vehicles to not only be faster and stronger than other teams' creations, but also better than purchased RC Cars and Drones! RC Wars will feature land and air races, obstacle courses and more as students learn mechanical and electrical building skills in an energetic and exciting environment.

Battle Drones features an exciting combination of aerial acrobatics with an engineering design challenge that will teach students STEM concepts, teamwork, and hoe to skillfully fly a drone. In Battle Drones, teams of students will build robotic launchers designed to fling projectiles at their opponents' drones. Students will be guided by experienced camp instructors in how to construct their launchers to maximize speed and accuracy.

Campers will be schooled on the fundamentals of the game of softball to help breed success. Coaches will lead instruction on hitting, infield defense, outfield defense, pitching and baserunning. Each camper must bring their own softball equipment, including glove, bat, helmet, hat, shoes and any other equipment they feel necessary. The Urbandale Show Choir Experience is for all students interested in improving their basic skills of vocal technique, learning choreography, facial engagement, and vocal projection. The camp will happen over 4 days, consisting of vocal rehearsals, choreography sessions, and activities for the singers and dancers to get to know each other. At the end of the camp, campers will showcase the three songs prepared throughout the week in a special performance.

Join us as we learn all about physics, engineering, technology, biology and more as they relate to flight through games, crafts, experiments and engineering design challenges!

STEM Video Game Enrichment for the 21st Century learner. Each Youth Enrichment League Coding class follows three basic components: Teach It!...Students learn different video game and storytelling design techniques (movement blocks, control blocks, basic animation, adding scores, etc.). Code It!...Students use Scratch* to code their own story and video games. Explore It!...Students can write their own story and video game code, experiment with it and test new options.

The camp is intended for all students who want to learn dance technique and skills.? The current Urbandale Dance Team members will teach basic technique, along with different skills ? such as turns, leaps, and jumps.? This technique camp is open to every skill level (beginner dancer to competitive dancer). We will work with each individual to improve technique, skills, and overall confidence.

This non-padded skill technique and fundamentals camp is for any skilled position players (QB, RB and WR/TE, including DB/LB). Camp will consist of 7 on 7 games broken up by age group and positional competitions.

Urbandale High School Vocal Music is hosting an All-State Chorus Audition Prep Camp. Camp is designed to help singers learn pitches, rhythms, and appropriate style/expressive ideas for each tune. Students will experience four days singing together and building community. Students outside the district are invited and encouraged to register.
