Students learn how to prevent injuries and handle emergencies when home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. They are taught infant and child choking rescue. They also learn how a child's age affects the care they receive, how to prevent problem behavior, how to run their own babysitting business, and stay safe online. (This class is designed for students grades 6th-8th.)

In this camp, a Sylvan certified teacher will guide students through the basic principles behind physical science and simple machines. They will learn to identify gears, wheels, axels, levers, and pulleys and what they do while in action in simple machines they build themselves using LEGO bricks. At the end of the program, they will even design their own machine using what they've learned! For students in 1st-5th grade.

Join us for a FREE Winter Kids Youth Soccer Clinic hosted by the Urbandale High School Boys Soccer Program! This clinic offers separate sessions for elementary and middle school players, providing a fun and engaging environment for children to improve their soccer skills. Led by UHS Boys Soccer coaches and players, participants will work on fundamental techniques like dribbling, passing, shooting, and teamwork through exciting drills and games.

Karen Acres Intersession: What will YOU be? A Career Quest Week! with Mrs. McMurry will take place March 9 - March 12, 2025.  Students will learn about a variety of careers. Students will be able to take a multiple intelligences quiz and a career quiz to help them come up with a list of careers they may be interested in having in the future! Intersession services are open to students in grades K - 5th for the 2025-26 school year.

The Team J-Hawk Track & Field club's mission is to provide an opportunity for young athletes to be able to take advantage of a valuable physical training experience and to enhance life skills through interaction with individuals from various cultures. The coed team is designed for youth (ages 8 - 12, 2nd - 6th grade) and will educate individuals on various track and field training methods, nutrition, and care and prevention of injuries.

DASH Sports Soccer Tykes camps provide players with an introductory experience to the game of soccer. Key elements of dribbling, passing, and shooting will be taught and practiced. Fun, skill-based games will be played to practice newly learned skills. (For Boys & Girls ages 3-5) 

DASH Sports soccer camps provide players a well-rounded soccer experience covering a broad range of soccer skills training (dribbling, passing, shooting, & defense) & skill-based games. DASH Sports Track & Field Tykes camps provide participants with a basic introduction to Track & Field events. Participants will learn and practice how to correctly run, jump, and throw. Emphasis is on technique and proper form.  Camp consists of many different types of physical activities, drills, and games, all tailored specifically to enhance overall athletic ability & performance. (For Boys & Girls ages 3-5)

Karen Acres Intersession: Around the World with Mrs. Schluteis will take place from May 4 - May 8, 2026. During this intersession, students will engage in different kids of art from around the world.
