Urbandale Community Theatre Presents
Meredith Wilson’s The Music Man
 
Urbandale, IA (July 3, 2014) – The Urbandale Community Theatre is pleased to stage an all-new production of the Iowa-based theatrical classic Meredith Wilson’s The Music Man, playing July 18-20 and 25-27, 2014 on stage at the Urbandale High School Performing Arts Center, 7111 Aurora Avenue. Based on the story of Professor Harold Hill, a con man with a heart of gold and Marian Paroo, the town librarian who falls for his patter, and the rest of the townsfolk of River City, Iowa. 
 
Performances are Fridays and Saturdays July 18, 19, 25, 26 at 7:30 pm and Sundays July 20 and 27 at 2:30 pm.  Tickets are $12 per person and available for purchase at the Urbandale HyVee customer service counter, 86th and Douglas Avenue, and at the Urbandale High School Activities Office, east side of the Urbandale High School at 7111 Aurora Avenue.  Office hours are 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday – Thursday and Fridays8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  Tickets may be purchased at the door prior to each performance.
 
“We are excited about our first production in partnership with the Urbandale Schools Community Education Program,” said Carl Johnson, Urbandale Community Theatre board member and orchestra conductor. “It is our hope to continue working together well into the future.”
 
The 41-member cast of The Music Man features veterans of many area stage productions including Greg Leavengood as Professor Harold Hill, and Preshia Paulding as Marian Paroo.   An orchestra of 25 musicians will provide spectacular music for such classics as 76 Trombones, ’Till There Was You, and Iowa Trouble.  The Music Man is directed by Dan Chase and under the baton of Carl Johnson.  Fran Paterik is the music director.
 
About Urbandale Community Theatre
The Urbandale Community Theatre staged its first production in 1996 in Urbandale, Iowa. The organization works to promote a total theater experience within the community.  A Broadway musical stage production is produced each year.  The cast and crew are all volunteers, including a wide range of ages, first time actors and very skilled and seasoned actors.
